Hair is a bonding experience. Doing your loved one's hair is such an act of love. Some of my fondest memories of childhood involved me sitting on the floor getting my hair braided.

We bond through hair.

For Black women, hair is such a big part of our culture. Whether, you're sitting on the floor between your mom's legs getting your hair combed, or doing each other's hair at a sleepover, or getting your hair washed in the sink, or having "girl talk" while getting your hair done at the beauty shop. It's all a part of such a beautiful experience.

And, do you remember having sleepovers growing up? I used to love sleepovers. It was so much fun having girl time with my friends. We used to stay up all night talking, laughing, and doing each other's hair. Talk about nostalgia.

I created this piece because it reminds me of "girl time".
